Mayo Clinic Visitors

Calvary Episcopal must be the only church in the world that is surrounded by a major medical center. From our unique corner of the world, we are called to minister to those seeking health care in Rochester. We embrace this opportunity, and we invite and encourage you to make Calvary your spiritual home while you are in Rochester. If we can be of any assistance to you, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Hospital Visits (Episcopal Pastoral Services)

Episcopal Pastoral Services (EPS) is a hospital-visitation ministry, providing regular visits for Episcopal patients at the Mayo Clinic hospitals. It is conducted jointly by Calvary and our sister parish in Rochester, St. Luke's.

Volunteers from each parish regularly visit Clinic patients who indicated on their admission forms that they are Episcopalian. The visits are fairly brief, with a volunteer simply chatting with a patient and arranging for him or her to receive communion or be visited by clergy if desired.

If you would like to arrange a visit from EPS, contact Sandy Berndt on 507-282-0583.

Healing Service

Visitors to Rochester are invited and encouraged to attend. This service features an invitation to pray for people who are facing physical and emotional pain. We aim our spiritual energy at God's healing grace for the courage and openness to move forward beyond hopelessness.

After prayers, anyone who wishes may be anointed with oil, symbolizing the ongoing touch and renewal in Christ by the grace of God. Then we celebrate the Holy Eucharist and feed upon the revitalizing mystery that nourishes us in new life.
