Last year\, we raised $716.53\, which was donated to the Childhood Cancer Community\, and this year we are hoping to top that number! They will be served with tortillas and salsa\, Spanish rice\, and cherry cheesecake.   \nWe will be decorating the Christmas tree in Brackenridge Hall and hanging greens in the sanctuary. Legend has it that ownership of Calvary’s corner lot rested on a bet made by George Head\, Rochester’s first mayor\, and Benjamin Whipple\, Minnesota’s first Episcopal Bishop: whoever threw a massive stone farthest would become the owner. Every year\, we celebrate Bishop Whipple’s historic win with a recreation of the event. Come and see if you are the parishioner who will win the stone throw this year. Many thanks to the Mueller family for organizing the Stone Throw. \nAnd that’s not all! We are excited to announce that we will be serving homemade scones (just like the ones served to Mayor Head and Bishop Whipple) with coffee\, cider\, and hot chocolate. DESCRIPTION:This Sunday\, June 1\, is a parish meeting for all members age 16 and over at Calvary. Please join me in Crawford Hall at 9:15 am to hear about our newly established endowments\, vote on changes in our financial policy\, and vote on the new bylaws we have been working on since January. \nCalvary has been blessed over the past year with financial gifts that allow us to establish two endowment funds\, funds that will benefit Calvary for generations to come. Our finance team has been working very hard over the past couple of months to establish these funds and work on some changes to our financial policy. One fund will be called the Property Preservation Fund\, meant to benefit the integrity of our buildings and grounds. The second fund will be called the Bishop Whipple Calvary Mission Fund\, a general endowment for the mission of the parish. Both funds will be managed professionally and used when interest is generated. \nThe parish meeting will begin promptly at 9:15\, so grab some coffee and come upstairs for this important gathering. We are blessed at Calvary not only with these financial resources but also with the amazing people who are members – and the skills and talents of our finance team are beyond measure. They will be served with tortillas and salsa\, Spanish rice\, and cherry cheesecake.  \nWe will be decorating the Christmas tree in Brackenridge Hall and hanging fresh greens in the sanctuary. DESCRIPTION:It’s time for Calvary Scones\, Stones\, and Halloween Bones\, a.k.a. Eat\, Compete\, and Dress Up! \nFall is in the air\, and it is time for Calvary’s Annual Stone Throw. Legend has it that ownership of Calvary’s corner lot rested on a bet made by George Head\, Rochester’s first mayor\, and Henry Benjamin Whipple\, Minnesota’s first Episcopal bishop: whoever threw a massive stone farthest would become the owner. Every year\, we celebrate Bishop Whipple’s historic win with a recreation of the event. Come and see if you are the parishioner who will win the stone throw this year. Many thanks to the Mueller family for organizing the Stone Throw.  \nAnd that’s not all! We are excited to announce that we will be serving homemade scones (probably just like the ones served to Mayor Head and Bishop Whipple) with coffee\, cider\, and hot chocolate. DESCRIPTION:As part of the process for hiring our next director of music\, we will host a parish listening session at 9:15 am on October 6th in Crawford Hall. We are seeking input from the congregation to inform the drafting of an updated job description for the role. Questions we are seeking input on include: \n\nWhat should the scope of the role be beyond the requirements of planning liturgical music\, directing the choir\, and serving as organist?\nWhat role should the position play in outreach\, fellowship\, and other pillars of parish life?\nWhat could this position do that we are not currently doing and how will that enrich our faith community?\n\nThe listening session will be hosted by vestry member Michelle Ackerman and co-treasurer Darren Cooper\, who\, along with vestry member Anne High and Reverend Beth\, are leading a workgroup to discern the future of the director of music role at Calvary. Please come with your ideas and aspirations for the director of music role. Your input is crucial and we look forward to hearing from you.

We are going to judge the pies starting at 10 am to give our panel of celebrity judges time to finish before the 10:30 service\, so please don’t be late. The rules are simple. As we continue in our work of discernment of the future of Calvary\, we will be listening to one another\, but also to our neighbors – those who live and work right around us\, and those who visit for a day or a season\, seeking healing and compassion at Calvary.
