DESCRIPTION:This Sunday\, June 1\, is a parish meeting for all members age 16 and over at Calvary. Please join me in Crawford Hall at 9:15 am to hear about our newly established endowments\, vote on changes in our financial policy\, and vote on the new bylaws we have been working on since January. \nCalvary has been blessed over the past year with financial gifts that allow us to establish two endowment funds\, funds that will benefit Calvary for generations to come. Our finance team has been working very hard over the past couple of months to establish these funds and work on some changes to our financial policy. One fund will be called the Property Preservation Fund\, meant to benefit the integrity of our buildings and grounds. The second fund will be called the Bishop Whipple Calvary Mission Fund\, a general endowment for the mission of the parish. Both funds will be managed professionally and used when interest is generated. \nThe parish meeting will begin promptly at 9:15\, so grab some coffee and come upstairs for this important gathering. We are blessed at Calvary not only with these financial resources but also with the amazing people who are members – and the skills and talents of our finance team are beyond measure. They will be served with tortillas and salsa\, Spanish rice\, and cherry cheesecake.  \nWe will be decorating the Christmas tree in Brackenridge Hall and hanging fresh greens in the sanctuary. Legend has it that ownership of Calvary’s corner lot rested on a bet made by George Head\, Rochester’s first mayor\, and Henry Benjamin Whipple\, Minnesota’s first Episcopal bishop: whoever threw a massive stone farthest would become the owner. Every year\, we celebrate Bishop Whipple’s historic win with a recreation of the event. Come and see if you are the parishioner who will win the stone throw this year. Many thanks to the Mueller family for organizing the Stone Throw.  \nAnd that’s not all! We are excited to announce that we will be serving homemade scones (probably just like the ones served to Mayor Head and Bishop Whipple) with coffee\, cider\, and hot chocolate. Questions we are seeking input on include: \n\nWhat should the scope of the role be beyond the requirements of planning liturgical music\, directing the choir\, and serving as organist?\nWhat role should the position play in outreach\, fellowship\, and other pillars of parish life?\nWhat could this position do that we are not currently doing and how will that enrich our faith community?\n\nThe listening session will be hosted by vestry member Michelle Ackerman and co-treasurer Darren Cooper\, who\, along with vestry member Anne High and Reverend Beth\, are leading a workgroup to discern the future of the director of music role at Calvary. We will be celebrating Mardi Gras on Friday\, February 2\, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. You don’t even have to travel to New Orleans! \nWe will meet at Beetle’s Bar and Grill located two blocks west of Saint Marys Hospital on 2nd Street SW. Do you know what CHTBMGPOONO stands for? Be the first to tell us and you will get a free drink! This is very informal. Come when you can. Stay for as long as you want. Popcorn and water are free. You can purchase other food and drinks. \nAdded bonus: We can celebrate Groundhog Day together\, too!

SUMMARY:Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:All are invited to participate in the Annual Meeting of Calvary. \nThe meeting will be incorporated into our worship service that day – we will have one service beginning at 9:30 am in Brackenridge Hall. The usual worship schedule of 8:30 and 10:30 am will be suspended on this day only\, returning to our normal schedule on February 4. \nAll members aged 16 and over are invited to vote on issues\, including our new vestry member slate and the acceptance of the 2024 budget. Children will be gathering in the Sunday school rooms for snacks\, games and fun! \nAll are not only invited – all are needed to attend this critical meeting as we move forward with our neighbors at the Mayo Clinic in their new expansion project\, take an honest look at our finances\, elect new vestry members\, celebrate those members who are retiring\, and celebrate our deep and rich people resources and leaders. \nCoffee and snacks will be provided\, and the vestry will stay following the service to answer questions and receive comments. You don’t want to miss this meeting! It will be livestreamed as well.

DESCRIPTION:On December 10 at 11:30 am\, you are invited to join fellow parishioners at Calvary to prepare the church for Christmas. This is an intergenerational event with activities for all ages.
