DESCRIPTION:Shrove Sunday (February 15\, 2026) is almost here\, which means it is almost time for our annual pancake breakfast! The pancake breakfast is a fundraiser for a local charity or cause of the kids’ choice and is a fun chance for our kids to get together\, enjoy each other’s company\, and give back to the wider community. Last year\, we raised $716.53\, which was donated to the Childhood Cancer Community\, and this year we are hoping to top that number! They will be served with tortillas and salsa\, Spanish rice\, and cherry cheesecake.   \nWe will be decorating the Christmas tree in Brackenridge Hall and hanging greens in the sanctuary. DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again: The Great Calvary Kids Bake-Off is around the corner! \nWhen: \n\nBake-Off: Saturday\, December 6\, 2025\, 1:00 pm-4:00 pm\nBake Sale: Sunday\, December 7\, 2025\, 9:15 am-10:15 am\, and during the Greening of the Church (if any are left!)\n\nWhere: Calvary Episcopal Church kitchen \nHow: Middle/high school kids will begin by practicing decorating techniques\, while the elementary students will split into groups and focus on making batches of cookie dough and baking cookies. Eventually\, the younger kids will have a turn at decorating\, too. Cookies will be judged the next day by an esteemed panel of judges\, and all cookies will be offered for donations\, which will support buying new covers and padding for the Middle School room chairs\, new books for the Kids’ Bags\, and upcoming service projects. Cash and checks will be accepted. Kids with gluten allergies will be put in a specifically gluten-free group. \nWe are looking forward to all getting together and having a great time! Legend has it that ownership of Calvary’s corner lot rested on a bet made by George Head\, Rochester’s first mayor\, and Benjamin Whipple\, Minnesota’s first Episcopal Bishop: whoever threw a massive stone farthest would become the owner. Every year\, we celebrate Bishop Whipple’s historic win with a recreation of the event. Come and see if you are the parishioner who will win the stone throw this year. Many thanks to the Mueller family for organizing the Stone Throw. \nAnd that’s not all! We are excited to announce that we will be serving homemade scones (just like the ones served to Mayor Head and Bishop Whipple) with coffee\, cider\, and hot chocolate. Then\, we will all be able to sample the delicious fruits of our pie bakers’ labors.  To enter\, just have your pie at Calvary by 10 am the day of the picnic with your name on the bottom of your pie plate. We are going to judge the pies starting at 10 am to give our panel of celebrity judges time to finish before the 10:30 service\, so please don’t be late. The rules are simple.
