SUMMARY:Blessing of the Backpacks and Briefcases
DESCRIPTION:All students are invited to bring their backpacks to the 10:00 am service on Sunday\, September 4\, to be blessed as we start a new school year. Adults are also invited to bring symbols of their work – briefcases\, cell phones\, stethoscopes\, knitting needles\, kitchen tools – whatever is a symbol of how you spend your days. God blesses us all in our work – let’s give thanks to God for our vocations and purpose.

DESCRIPTION:Calvary’s Fellowship Core cannot resist hosting another Happy Hour to celebrate International Buy a Priest a Beer Day! It only rolls around once a year\, and we are most fortunate that this year it is on a Friday. The first two Calvary Happy Hours were great TGIF successes\, and we are sure this one will be even better. We will meet at Beetle’s Bar and Grill\, located two blocks west of Saint Marys Hospital on 2nd Street\, SW\, on Friday\, September 9\, 4:30 – 6:30 pm. This is informal. Come when you can; stay for as long as you like. Popcorn and water are free. You can purchase other food and drinks. Mark your calendars now and join other Calvary parishioners in toasting our clergy!

DESCRIPTION:The Rt. Rev. Craig Loya\, bishop of Minnesota\, will be visiting Calvary on Sunday\, September 18\, for his first visit here\, to confirm\, receive\, and reaffirm all interested members. Confirmation classes were suspended during the Covid-19 quarantine period\, so it’s been two years since we have been able to present a group for Confirmation. \nConfirmation classes for all young people in rising 9th – 12th grades will begin on Sunday\, August 7 at 12:00 pm and continue August 14\, 21\, 28\, and September 11. The classes will last 60 minutes and attendees may bring lunch or we will sometimes spring for pizza!

SUMMARY:Picnic Church!
DESCRIPTION:Our last Picnic Church of the season will be at 4:30pm this Sunday\, September 25\, in the Oasis Garden. We had 20 worshippers for this service in August – it is relaxed\, joyful\, and short! Bring a supper and a chair to sit in and come enjoy the beauty of the Oasis Garden in the fall\, and enjoy one another. It’s a great way to introduce a friend to Calvary.
