DESCRIPTION:All are invited to participate in the Annual Meeting of Calvary. \nThe meeting will be incorporated into our worship service that day – we will have one service beginning at 9:30 am in Brackenridge Hall. The usual worship schedule of 8:30 and 10:30 am will be suspended on this day only\, returning to our normal schedule on February 4. \nAll members aged 16 and over are invited to vote on issues\, including our new vestry member slate and the acceptance of the 2024 budget. Children will be gathering in the Sunday school rooms for snacks\, games and fun! \nAll are not only invited – all are needed to attend this critical meeting as we move forward with our neighbors at the Mayo Clinic in their new expansion project\, take an honest look at our finances\, elect new vestry members\, celebrate those members who are retiring\, and celebrate our deep and rich people resources and leaders. \nCoffee and snacks will be provided\, and the vestry will stay following the service to answer questions and receive comments. You don’t want to miss this meeting! It will be livestreamed as well.

SUMMARY:Benedictine Way
DESCRIPTION:While living in Rome during troubled times in the 6th century\, Benedict of Nursia wrote a Rule for community living. He sought peace\, meaning and purpose for his life. Others joined him and ultimately he founded 12 monastic communities. Benedictine spirituality flows from three vows: stability\, obedience\, and conversion of life\, all grounded in the Bible/Gospels\, the Rule of St. Benedict\, personal prayer\, and community living. \nBenedictine spirituality has been a part of Anglican/Episcopal liturgies for centuries. St. Augustine\, the first Archbishop of Canterbury\, was a Benedictine monk. Thomas Cranmer\, Archbishop of Canterbury in 1533\, incorporated the divine office (morning prayer\, evening prayer and compline along with the Psalms) into the Book of Common Prayer\, following the influence of Augustine. \nThe Benedictine Way Group is an opportunity for people to come together to discover guided balance in our lives through prayer (Evening Prayer and Compline)\, study (of the Bible/Gospels and the Rule)\, and community gathering. The group formed in 2007 and has met monthly with 9-12 members. We listen\, share\, and integrate aspects of the Benedictine monastic tradition into our daily lives to better live out the Gospel in today’s challenging world. \nJoin us on the fourth Sunday of every month in the Larson Fireside Room from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. All are welcome!

DESCRIPTION:Mondays from September 18 to November 21\, online at 7:00 pm \nAll are invited to a study of the Gospel according to Luke that will be led by a group of Calvary laypeople and clergy. We will be joining in with many others in the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota in this study\, invited by Bishop Loya\, who sees great value in such a communal experiment and experience. The entire series will be on Zoom so that everyone who is interested can take part. Facilitators will be using the “Interpretation Bible Studies” on Luke by Thomas W. Walker. This tradition started with Bishop Whipple many millennia ago (or so the myth goes). Come and see if you are the parishioner who will throw the stone the farthest this year. There will be three contestant categories: Men\, Women\, and Children (under the age of 12). \nAnd that’s not all! We are excited to announce that we will be serving homemade scones with coffee\, cider\, and hot chocolate. \nBut wait\, there’s more! All of our collection at that service will be designated to Paws and Claws. This is a great service to bring your neighbors and friends – come let us celebrate God’s Beloved Community!

SUMMARY:ECMN’s Racial Justice and Healing Commission Inaugural Retreat
DESCRIPTION:ECMN’s Racial Justice and Healing Commission will host an inaugural retreat for racial healing and justice-making September 29-30 at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church\, 60 N Kent St\, St Paul\, MN 55102. \nThis in person retreat utilizes our Eucharistic liturgy as a frame for understanding ministries of racial justice and healing as an integral element of our ongoing spiritual formation and discipleship. Participation in the retreat will also fulfill canonical requirements for anti-racism training. \nThe retreat begins with dinner on Friday and programming until 9pm. We will re-gather at St. John’s Saturday morning at 8:15am for coffee and breakfast and conclude our time at 5:30pm (lunch will be included). Please do not register if you cannot be present for the entirety of the retreat. \nThe cost for participation is $50.
