DESCRIPTION:(aka Eat\, Compete\, and Dress Up) \nFall is in the air\, and it is time for Calvary’s annual Stone Throw. This tradition started with Bishop Whipple many millennia ago (or so the myth goes). Come and see if you are the parishioner who will throw the stone the farthest this year. There will be three contestant categories: Men\, Women\, and Children (under the age of 12). \nAnd that’s not all! We are excited to announce that we will be serving homemade scones with coffee\, cider\, and hot chocolate. \nBut wait\, there’s more! It is the Sunday before Halloween\, so we encourage you to wear your Halloween costume to eat\, compete\, and of course attend the 8:30 or 10:30 service. \nMany thanks to the Mueller family for organizing the Stone Throw. DESCRIPTION:Calvary is celebrating St. Francis Day on Sunday\, October 8\, with a special service in the Oasis Garden at 4:00 pm.  Who is this service for? Dogs\, cats\, rabbits\, goldfish\, snakes\, hamsters\, rodents of ALL kinds! Elephants\, horses\, sloths\, parakeets and every bird\, hissing cockroaches\, tarantulas\, and every insect of every kind. God has made all of creation\, and given it into our care. So\, humans are invited too! \nPlease bring your pets (and pictures of shy pets and pets who have died)\, to the Oasis Garden on Sunday\, October 8 at 4:00 pm for their blessing. All of our collection at that service will be designated to Paws and Claws. This is a great service to bring your neighbors and friends – come let us celebrate God’s Beloved Community!

SUMMARY:ECMN’s Racial Justice and Healing Commission Inaugural Retreat
DESCRIPTION:ECMN’s Racial Justice and Healing Commission will host an inaugural retreat for racial healing and justice-making September 29-30 at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church\, 60 N Kent St\, St Paul\, MN 55102. \nThis in person retreat utilizes our Eucharistic liturgy as a frame for understanding ministries of racial justice and healing as an integral element of our ongoing spiritual formation and discipleship. Participation in the retreat will also fulfill canonical requirements for anti-racism training. \nThe retreat begins with dinner on Friday and programming until 9pm. We will re-gather at St. John’s Saturday morning at 8:15am for coffee and breakfast and conclude our time at 5:30pm (lunch will be included). Please do not register if you cannot be present for the entirety of the retreat. \nThe cost for participation is $50. If financial assistance is needed\, please contact Kelsey Schuster at kelsey.s@episcopalmn.org. \nA hotel room block will be available and will be communicated to those registered in the coming weeks.

As you know\, people come from all over the world to\, as my Chicago grandmother called it in the mid-1900’s\, “The Mayos.”\n\nPlease come to Crawford Hall this Sunday\, September 24\, at 9:15 to hear what is happening\, as much as your vestry\, wardens and rector know\, about the Mayo plans and what we are doing in response to those plans at Calvary right now. Bring open ears\, open hearts\, and open minds\, your questions and your comments.  Together\, over the next months\, we will discern God’s call to us in this beautiful and historic church\, and explore how God is calling us into the work of our future. If you choose the gluten free option\, your choice of ham or turkey will be wrapped in lettuce and the box will include fresh fruit\, a wrapped pickle\, and a gluten free cookie. DESCRIPTION:Calvary’s Fellowship Committee is hosting a Cinco de Mayo Happy Hour on – you guessed it – May 5\, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Come celebrate with your fellow parishioners. \nWe will meet at Beetle’s Bar and Grill\, located two blocks west of Saint Marys Hospital on 2nd Street SW. Please join us for this SIFH gathering. And… the first person to arrive and tell us what SIFH stands for gets a free drink! This will be very informal. Stay for as long as you can. Popcorn and water are free. You can purchase other food and drinks.
