SUMMARY:Blessing of Backpacks and Briefcases
DESCRIPTION:School is starting in late August and Calvary will be entering a new and exciting program year.  At both the 8:30 am and 10:30 am services on Sunday\, August 25\, we will be blessing our children as they head back to school\, and blessing their backpacks as symbols of their work.  We will also be blessing the briefcases and all other symbols of the work of adults – cell phones\, iPads\, knitting needles\, gardening\, carpentry\, and cooking tools – please bring any symbols of your work\, and your children and their backpacks\, to church on August 25 so that we can send one another out into the world to do the work God has given us to do with the blessing of this beloved community\, and the assurance of God’s presence\, for the months ahead.

DESCRIPTION:Bishop Loya will be making his official visit to Calvary on Holy Cross Sunday\, September 15. Part of our worship celebration with the Bishop will be the liturgy of confirmation\, reception\, and reaffirmation. \nA confirmation class for all 9th – 12th graders who have not yet been confirmed will be offered on the four Sundays of August: August 4\, 11\, 18\, and 25 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm (with snacks!) in preparation for the bishop’s visit.
