DESCRIPTION:Advent is many things to us – a time of waiting\, preparation\, rest\, and repair. It is also a time of intense consumerism and pressure to be busy with tasks both joyous and difficult. \nYou are invited to take a few hours away from your Saturday schedule on December 10 to sit and pray with others in the lovely\, sacred space of Calvary\, and to bring all that is in your heart and mind to this time of gentle discussion\, meditation\, and holy wondering. Tea and scones will be ready a little before 9:00 am. \nCo-facilitated by the Rev. Beth Royalty and the Rev. Paul Ehling\, the practice of Lectio Divina (the reading of scripture followed by a time of meditation\, prayer\, and journaling) will be offered on the hour by the Rev. Paul Ehling in the Fireside Room. Rev. Beth Royalty will be in the church for private counseling\, confession\, or to be a companion in prayer. Come for the whole morning or for a little time of quiet. All are welcome here

DESCRIPTION:On Dec. 4 at 11:30\, you are invited to join fellow parishioners at Calvary to prepare the church for Christmas. This is an intergenerational event with activities for all. Please join us for the following: \n\nWe will enjoy a soup lunch\, organized by the Fellowship Team. See below for information about providing soups and helping with clean-up!\nA team will hang our fresh greens in the sanctuary\, preparing our worship space for this joyous and festive season.\nMichelle McKean will lead a crafting activity with the kids\, creating decorations for the Christmas tree. You can sign up your kids to participate and give us an idea of how many to expect by emailing Michelle at faithformation@calvary-rochester.org or using the sign-up sheet in Brackenridge Hall.\nWe’ll all decorate the Christmas tree\, including with gratitude cards\, a project led by Colleen Spillers.\n\nIf you can attend\, please sign up in Brackenridge or use this link to sign up with Sign Up Genius. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: A Service of Morning Prayer
DESCRIPTION:This is one of two services each Sunday: at 8:30 am\, on the first Sunday of every month\, Calvary offers A Service of Morning Prayer. This beautiful\, ancient service consists of prayers\, canticles\, and scripture readings and is the traditional way of greeting the day in our Episcopal tradition. It is about 30 minutes long\, and readers will be invited out of the gathered congregation by the lay leaders. \nThe nursery\, staffed by two adults each Sunday who are vaccinated\, boosted\, and Safeguarding God’s Children trained\, will be available 8:30 am – 11:15 am. \nMasks are required for this service. All are welcome!

We’re listening. \nFaithful Innovation is a process that invites participants to engage in simple spiritual practices and small experiments to develop deeper relationships with God\, fellow faith community members\, and neighbors. Under the leadership of Rev. Blair Pogue (ECMN Canon for Vitality)\, David Reiman\, Colleen Spillers\, and Colleen Timimi are part of the SE Mission Faithful Innovation Process Pilot program. Calvary’s team attended the first meeting in Faribault in July. Subsequent meetings will be this November and in April 2023. The team also meets monthly on Zoom with a trained coach\, all with the intent to Listen\, Act\, and Share. \nDuring the month of October we will be Walking\, Talking\, and Dwelling. \n\nDWELL\nSunday\, November 6\n9:15 am to 10:15 am \nWe will meet in Crawford Hall to experience Dwelling in the Word\, an ancient Christian practice. This practice\, which our Faithful Innovation team is studying\, is a chance to learn together how to discern what God is saying to us by collectively living in Scripture.

DESCRIPTION:Fall is in the air\, and it is time for Calvary’s annual Stone Throw. This tradition started with Bishop Whipple many millennia ago (or so the myth goes). We are excited to announce that we will be serving homemade scones with coffee\, tea\, and hot chocolate in the courtyard. \nBut wait\, there’s more! SUMMARY:Oasis Garden Winter Clean-Up
DESCRIPTION:Calvary middle and high school youth (and siblings and parents) are invited to join together in the Oasis Garden on Sunday\, October 16\, at 1:00 p.m. to put the garden to bed for the winter.  We’ll be pulling up flowers\, putting them in wheelbarrows and garbage cans\, and throwing them in the back of volunteer pickups and trailers. Snacks and drinks will be provided. \nFollowing the clean up (stay for a long time or as long as you can!)\, all 7th – 12th graders will be invited to our new dedicated Youth Room to talk about what is needed there and then make plans to get the room finished in November.  Wear work gloves if you have them\, and sturdy shoes. For those unable to walk\, we invite you to gather in Feith Family Park (adjacent to the Calvary building with the Mayo statues) for observations and reflections about our neighborhood. During our walk\, we invite you to take pictures and make observations about Calvary’s neighborhood. \nWe will then return to Brackenridge where post-its will be available for you to share your thoughts on what you saw.

When you sign up\, you can select your boxed lunch option: ham\, turkey\, or veggie sandwiches\, pasta salad\, chips\, a pickle\, and a cookie. There is also a gluten-free option\, with your choice of ham or turkey wrapped in lettuce\, along with fresh fruit\, a wrapped pickle\, and a gluten free cookie. We will have a jar out to collect free will donations. \nLast fall\, 130 parishioners attended.  Let’s see if we can beat that number in 2022!

We had 20 worshippers for this service in August – it is relaxed\, joyful\, and short! Come meet Bishop Loya and take part in this special day. \nSchedule\n\n8:30 am – Holy Eucharist\, Rite I – Bishop Loya presiding and preaching\n9:15 – 10:15 am – Coffee Hour and forum with Bishop Loya in Crawford Hall\n10:30 am – Holy Eucharist\, Rite II with confirmations\, Bishop Loya presiding and preaching.\nFollowing the 10:30 am service – The Fellowship Committee would like to invite parishioners to greet Bishop Loya and our Calvary members being received and confirmed\, together with their families\, at a reception in Brackenridge Hall.
