Our Clergy & Staff
The Rev. Beth Royalty became the 18th Rector of Calvary in March 2017. She was ordained to the priesthood in 2000, in the Diocese of Atlanta. She fell in love with Minnesota during her time as Rector of St. Clement’s in St. Paul from 2007 – 2013. Beth lives in Rochester with her daughter Margaret and various animals.
Patty was raised in Miami, Florida. After Hurricane Andrew devastated South Florida in 1992, she was transferred to Ft. Worth, Texas. IBM then moved her family to Rochester, Minn. Patty is married to Clayton. They have two grown sons and three cats. They are longtime members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church; previously, in Texas, they were members of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church. Patty’s career adventures have included: electronic technician, theater manager, school hot lunch accountant, administrative assistant, graphic designer, and website designer. In her spare time, she likes quilting and going camping with Clayton and their eldest cat.
A native of Longview, Texas, Austin Ferguson has served as Carillonneur of Mayo Clinic since February of 2017. Prior to starting as Director of Music and Organist at Calvary, he served as Co-Director of Music at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Rochester from 2020-2023, and as Organist at Vasa Lutheran Church from 2017-2020. Outside of Mayo and Calvary, Austin keeps busy teaching a full piano studio and traveling around the country as a carillon recitalist.
Stuart Gage is originally from Iowa and has lived in Rochester for the past 36 years. He has been the Sexton at Calvary since April 2012. Stuart and his wife, Cheryl have two grown children and one grandchild. Outside of his work at Calvary, he enjoys mowing lawns, snow blowing, spending time with family and friends and helping people.
Phil Malley is a retired medical clinic administrator, spending over 30 years in healthcare in three small communities in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He has been married to Vicky for 49 years; together they have three adult children and four grandchildren. Being originally from Rochester, they returned to the city three years ago after retiring….my how things have changed in the past thirty years!
Our Vestry
Darren is originally from Pennsylvania, spent much of his adulthood in Indiana, and moved to Rochester in January 2014. He is the Director of Prospect Research in the Department of Development at Mayo Clinic and has worked in fundraising since 2006. He is married to Elizabeth Larsen and they have a son, Charlie. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, camping, cycling, occasional bouts of running, and DIY projects.
Christie Atwell is originally from Wisconsin and moved to Rochester in 1996. She has her own financial consulting business and three children with her husband Tom. Outside of work and volunteering, she loves fly fishing.
Amy Crockett is a cellist and teacher in the Rochester community. She enjoys community involvement, volunteering and spending time with family and friends. She and her husband, Eric have 3 children and 2 dogs.
