Beloved in Christ:

Thank you all for attending and helping with the annual meeting this past Sunday. So many hands were needed to set up and clean up, and make sure our reports were published, the tech worked, coffee and doughnuts were available, and so much more. We heard of some challenges, and we heard of lots of good news and joyful celebrations. I want to welcome the Venerable Ben Scott as our priest associate. Now, onward!
We now have powerful ways to help our neighbors in this time of uncertainty for so many immigrant families. In this Visitor, you will see a way to donate food, toiletries, and other necessary items that will be delivered by a couple of networked nonprofits to at-risk families. I have also been able to network with some people who are identifying families and individuals who will not be able to fully pay their rent and/or utilities because they, or the breadwinner in the family, has been detained by CBP or are fearful of going to work and school. I will be, when called upon, helping to pay utility bills through RPU, via the rector’s discretionary account. If you would like to help with this targeted assistance, you may give to the discretionary account through the “Good Cents” box on Sunday mornings, by a check in the mail, or by giving through Tithe.ly, where we have added an option for “Rector’s Discretionary Account.” Once the current need has abated, monies in that account will continue to be used to assist people, both in the parish and in our neighborhood, with financial needs.
Thank you for all that you do for Calvary, and in our neighborhood and city.
In gratitude,
Beth+
