I am so pleased to announce that we have hired a new facilities manager for Calvary. With the retirement of Stuart Gage, we are also retiring the title of “sexton.” It’s a beautiful word that is from the past, and the position that we have created will encompass more as we plan and staff for the future.

Our new facilities manager is Kirk Thomas. Kirk has been the manager of the tire department at Costco for the past 15 years, so you may have encountered him there. Kirk is also the husband of parishioner Lisa Thomas, who, a few years ago, was our junior warden and is currently the chair of our security team. Kirk is well-versed in the maintenance world and, as an experienced administrator, will tackle the current job responsibilities that Stuart had and be able to grow into the job for the future as Calvary grows both in its building plans and in its mission.

We have been using an outside cleaning company since January, when Stuart moved to part-time. Kirk will take the cleaning responsibilities back into his job responsibilities. Kirk‘s first day at Calvary will be June 1. I know you will join me in welcoming him to our Calvary family. I could not be more delighted to have Kirk on our team.
